Content Rules
From Securence
Custom Content Rules give you the opportunity to write your own very specific message filters. You may instruct Securence⢠to take action on a message based on any series of characters in the headers or body of a message. In the future, there will be additional options to filter a message based on the existence, type, or size of any attachments, size of the message, etc.
- Creating Custom Content Rules
- To get started, just click the "Add a New Rule" button.
- Step 1: Identify your custom rule
- Enter a name for your rule - something that describes its main purpose.
- Enter any notes that you wish to further identify the rule.
- Choose which Domain, Group, or Company for which the rule ought to be applied.
- Step 2: Define your custom rule conditions. This section will determine exactly when your custom rule will be triggered.
- Each rule may contain one or more conditions. If your rule contains more than one condition, you may choose whether you want the rule to be triggered only if all the conditions are met or if any of the conditions are met. Currently, the only condition type available identifies words (or, more specifically, any string of characters) that exist or do not exist in the message headers or body.
- Step 3: Choose your desired action
- In this section you choose one or more actions from a list of actions to be performed whenever a message matches your custom rule.
- Treat It Like Spam - This option will cause the custom rule to inherit the default spam action from your Domain Settings. For example, if you have the Quarantine enabled in your Domain Settings, then any messages that match this custom rule will be quarantined.
- Take Custom Action - This option will allow you to choose specific behaviors for messages that match this particular rule. By default, the message will not be delivered and it will be added to the quarantine. In addition to disabling these behaviors, you may also choose to notify an admin, notify the recipient, or modify the subject. If you choose to notify the recipient or an admin, that person will receive an automated e-mail from Securence⢠informing them that a message has been identified that matches this particular custom content rule.
